Laura Kaspari Hohmann gives presentation to local librarians
Over 30 librarians from raions across Moldova gathered at the U.S. Embassy's Information Resource Center (IRC) on Thursday, January 18, to hear presentations by Regional Information Resource Officer (IRO) Laura Kaspari Hohmann.  Hohmann, who is posted at U.S. Embassy Warsaw, spent three days in Moldova, consulting and giving presentations in both Chisinau and Balti.

She gave three presentations to the librarians, all targeting new trends in library and information science.  Her first talk, on "graphic novels" and their role in American schools and libraries, resulted in a lively discussion of the genre and its role in education and literacy.  Two additional presentations focused on the Internet, highlighting both RSS feeds and new websites and applications that show promise for the library world.  Participants commented that they found the information useful and expressed an interest in implementing it at their libraries.
