A large crowd of Donduseni residents came to the Palace of Culture on Thursday, March 30 for the opening ceremony of the embassy-sponsored "New York Forever" art exhibit. The exhibit, a series of approximately 80 drawings of New York City, is the work of artist Dan Cioca, a native of Chisinau who has resided in New York since the early 1980s. Deputy Public Affairs Officer Elizabeth Lewis gave opening remarks, noting the small details in the drawings which convey the energy of the city and "bring New York to life." The city mayor, municipal authorities, and teachers and students from the city's arts high school were all in attendance, as were local media.
The exhibit, which has already been in Chisinau, Balti, Briceni, and Ocnita, will be traveling to raion centers around the country during the next several months. The exhibit will next go to Edinet Raion.
