U.S. Children's Literature Specialist Speaks at Moldova Children's Book Fair.

Specialist Judy O'Malley gave the keynote address at the annual Moldova Children's Book Fair

On Friday, April 7 specialist Judy O'Malley gave the keynote address at the annual Moldova Children's Book Fair, held in the National Children's Library at the Licurici Republican Puppet Theater in Chisinau.

Ms. O'Malley, who was brought to Moldova by the U.S. Embassy's Speaker Program, is a children's literature specialist; she is Executive Editor at Charlesbridge Publishing in Boston, Massachusetts. Her presentation, “Children’s Books in the USA: Publishing and Promoting Programs,” described the ways in which American publishers support the needs of schools and libraries, working with them to produce quality children’s books.

The audience of over 100 librarians, publishers, and writers received the talk with great interest, participating in a lively question-and-answer session afterwards. While in Chisinau, the speaker also visited a number of libraries and held meetings with Moldovan publishers and writers.
