Law Enforcement Agency Spokespersons Learn Public Relations Skills (11 Apr 2008)

Press officers from law enforcement entities involved in fighting trafficking in human beings learned that it's always better to provide information to the media so that the public can be aware of the activities of their institutions. The trainers stressed that otherwise, the public will develop their own conclusions and as a result may not lose trust. This is only one example of the type of knowledge and skills gained by participants at the U.S. Government sponsored Public Relations and Media Training held April 7–10. At the graduation ceremony, Ambassador Michael D. Kirby reiterated the U.S. Government’s continued support for Moldova’s efforts to fight human trafficking, and donated another vehicle to the CCTIP – a Volkswagen van – to help achieve that goal. The training was delivered by instructors from the FBI Office of Public Affairs, and was held at the Center for Combating Trafficking in Persons. This training was provided as a component of the Letter of Agreement between the United States and the Republic of Moldova on Narcotics Control and Law Enforcement Affairs signed in 2005. This Letter of Agreement provided funding and technical assistance to the Government of Moldova in establishing the Anti-Trafficking Center.
