USAID/BIZTAR holds International Conference on Business Regulatory and Tax Administration Reform

On April 17, USAID|BIZTAR hosted an International Conference on Business Regulatory and Tax Administration Reform in the Republic of Moldova Chisinau.  BIZTAR is a three-year Moldova. The conference was aimed at strengthening the efforts of public authorities to improve the business climate in Moldova by promoting reform, and was attended by representatives of the public and private sectors, business, and international experts. U.S. Ambassador to Moldova, Michael D. Kirby, and First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economics and Trade of Moldova, Igor Dodon, opened the conference.

"The global economy is competitive, and holding ground is not enough for Moldova to grow in the face of competition. To develop a vibrant and growing economy, to create jobs, and to ensure the most economical use of resources, Moldova needs to increase the tempo of reform," stated Ambassador Kirby, in his opening remarks.

The USAID|BIZTAR Project focuses on developing licensing procedures; simplifying business and tax reporting requirements; ensuring greater access to regulatory information; conducting effective reform monitoring and public awareness; enhancing the quality of taxpayer services and tax appeals; and tax fraud prevention. In order to create a better business environment, the project stresses the creative deployment of information and communication technologies (ICT) to facilitate transparent data management and distribution, streamlined administrative processes, and enhanced private-public sector partnerships.
