A total of 136 students received dental fluoride treatments and 70 students were vaccinated against chicken pox. The program, organized by the Bilateral Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy, will run the entire week of May 15 - 19, reaching children in 25 schools and orphanages in 11 towns and villages across Moldova.

Americans involved in the program include North Carolina National Guard personnel, two volunteer professors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Dental School, and Peace Corps Volunteers. Partnering with them from the Moldovan side are the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport.
