On May 21, Public Law Library officially launched the project In Focus - Legal Research. Over the next 24 months the Library will provide access to Hein-Online, a legal database containing over 1200 legal magazines published in the U.S. and Europe, and over 550 legal classics, books, and anthologies.

The project and the subscription to the database were possible due to a Democracy Commission Grant from the U.S. Embassy with contribution from Soros Foundation Moldova. In his address to the participants present at the event, John Balian, Public Affairs Officer of the American Embassy, stressed the importance of access to legal information, emphasizing that "libraries represent an important step for the promotion of democracy and rule of law."

This project is part of the Public Law Library's strategy to extend its electronic services and increase community presence. In the next months, Public Law Library will organize promotional meetings with potential users at university libraries in Chisinau, Balti and Cahul.
