On June 14, Ambassador Kirby recognized World Blood Donor Day by giving blood at a mobile blood collecting lab in Stefan cel Mare Public Garden in Chisinau. The Ambassador confirmed the slogan of the current campaign "Give Blood Regularly, One Donation is Not Enough", as he donated blood for the second time since his arrival in Moldova. Many Moldovan officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Victor Stepaniuc, Health Minister Larisa Catrinici and the chief of the National Blood Transfusion Center, Svetlana Cebotari, as well as representatives of international and non-governmental organizations donated blood during this campaign, and they called the people to follow their example. The campaign was financed by USAID and the Transfusion Security component of the Project on preventing HIV/AIDS and B and C Viral Hepatitis, implemented by the Health Ministry.
