On Thursday, June 8 the Balti Municipal Library hosted opening ceremonies for the new “American Corner” located within the library.
Following the official ceremony, which included opening remarks by Charge d’Affaires John Winant and Deputy Mayor Valentin Guznac, a reception was held in the library’s main reading hall. Over 100 guests attended.
The Corner, a partnership between the Embassy and the Municipal Library, is a small resource center, featuring a collection of books, reference materials, and DVDs in English. Equipped with computers, television, and a DVD player, the Corner also gives visitors access to various media, including the Internet.
The Balti American Corner will be a resource for students, professors, businessmen, journalists, and the general public, enabling them to access information about the United States. It will also serve as a venue for presentations on various topics by guest speakers and as a meeting place for alumni groups and others.
