The Border Guard Service of Moldova celebrated its 15th Anniversary on June 9, 2007, and Ambassador to Moldova Michael Kirby was on hand to present gifts from the USG.  The ceremony, which was held at the Border Guard Service's headquarters in Chisinau, was attended by a number of dignitaries, including Moldova’s Prime Minister and the Director of the European Union Border Assistance Mission (UBAM).  Ambassador Kirby presented 10 passenger buses, 50 night vision binoculars and 200 flashlights—with a total value of over $591,000—to the Border Guard Service.  These items were donated through the State Department’s Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) Program.  The event was widely covered by the media.
