Peace Corps Moldova Celebrates 15th Anniversary

The 23rd group of the U.S. Peace Corps volunteers to Moldova were sworn-in on August 20at the U.S. Ambassador’s Residence. The ceremony also celebrated the Peace Corps Moldova’s 15th anniversary and the Year of Youth in Moldova. Fifteen members of this group will teach health education in schools around the country, while 19 will teach English.  Approximately 120 Peace Corps volunteers are currently serving in Moldova. Besides working with their primary host institutions, volunteers plan and carry out a wide variety of projects including health seminars, sports teams, summer camps for youth and developing English language resource centers. Charge d’Affaires Kelly Keiderling, Peace Corps Director Jeffery Kelley-Clarke, Minister of Education Larisa Savga, Vice Minister of Health Mircea Buga made remarks of gratitude and appreciation for all the Peace Corps volunteers.
