Charge d’Affairs Kelly Keiderling’s congratulatory message on Moldova’s Independence Day

I would like to congratulate all citizens of the Republic of Moldova on the occasion of the seventeenth anniversary of Moldova’s independence, celebrated on August 27.

As an independent state, the Republic of Moldova is still young, but it already has made big accomplishments.  Moldova's commitment to political and economic reform sets an example for other nations.

Of course, there are still a lot of problems that Moldova has to solve on its way to prosperity and wellbeing - a path that is not easy at all.  The United States of America will always be alongside to support your efforts in creating a prosperous state, aspiring to European values and reestablishing the territorial integrity of the country.

Relations between the U.S. and Moldova are strong and are based on common values of personal freedom and the rule of law.

On behalf of the American people, please accept my best wishes for peace and prosperity, continued progress and a bright future.
