Consul Holds Press Event in Chisinau to Explain Green Card Lottery

U.S. Consul David Franz held a press event on Tuesday, October 9 at the Public Affairs Section’s Information Resource Center (PAS-IRC) in Chisinau to explain this year’s “Green Card” lottery.  The event was well attended with seven television channels, several radio stations and news agencies present.  The consul first explained the lottery concept and then went through the application procedures, stressing the fact that there is no fee for applying to this program.  He cautioned the audience to be aware of organizations or individuals that may seek to defraud potential applicants by asking for payments to complete applications or to facilitate the process.  There was a lively question and answer period following the Consul’s remarks, with the majority of the inquiries dealing with Moldovan statistics in this program since its inception.
