Opening Event of “American Music in Moldova” Plays to Full House

Over 700 music lovers attended the first concert of the series “American Music in Moldova” at the Chisinau Philharmonic Hall on Friday, October 12. The Chisinau Philharmonic Orchestra, led by guest conductor Nicolas Palmer from the United States, performed the works of American composers Morton Gould, Aaron Copland, John Williams, Leroy Anderson, John Custer, Richard Rodgers, and Klaus Badelt.

The theme of this opening concert was “Film Music” and scores from such films as “Star Wars”, “South Pacific”, “James Bond”, and “Pirates of the Caribbean” were featured, delighting the full capacity audience, which gave a standing ovation
at the end of the concert .

The concert also featured clarinet soloist Sergiu Mushat, principal soloist of the Bacau Philharmonic in Romania. Four more concerts are planed in the “American Music in Moldova” series,highlighting more American composers in December, February, March, and May.
The concert series is funded by a grant from the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau and realized in collaboration with the National Philharmonic Orchestra in Chisinau.
