Ambassador Michael Kirby visited the boarding school in the village of Carpineni to assist the launching of an American humanitarian mission to Moldova – the distribution of winter boots and socks to all children enrolled in boarding schools and orphanages in Moldova.
The project--Operation Knit Together-- implemented by the Children’s Emergency Relief International (CERI), received donations from churches and private individuals in the U.S. to buy over 15, 000 boots and socks for the children.
Over the course of three weeks, 48 volunteers from America will work to personally fit 12,495 children in orphanages and boarding schools in Moldova with new winter boots and socks. Caravans of trucks, vans and cars will travel to 66 orphanages and boarding schools in Moldova.
A total of 387 children at the boarding school in Carpineni received new winter boots and socks.
