U.S. Urges Moldova to Use New Tools Provided through Millennium Challenge Program
Regional Legal Advisor Greg Diamond discussed U.S. support for Moldova's efforts to combat corruption at the National Anticorruption Conference on December 10 in Chisinau. He stressed that "Through the Millennium Challenge Threshold Country Program, we have provided tools which government and civil society can use, but it is up to Moldova to use them." New legislation, stronger regulations, and renovated courthouses are among the many new tools now available as a result of the program. Mr. Diamond continued by saying that these tools only offer the opportunity for change. The tools must be used, and can and should be improved with time and use.
