Ambassador Asif Chaudhry joins American volunteers to ensure warmth for Moldovan children this winter
Over 12,000 Moldovan children will be warmer this winter as a result of boots, socks, hats and scarves provided by American volunteers. On December 16, Ambassador and Mrs. Chaudhry joined representatives of Children's Emergency Relief International (CERI) to distribute boots at the Ivancea Boarding School for children with cardiovascular disorders. After all 210 students received their new winter shoes and clothes, they entertained the Ambassador and other volunteers with a concert of traditional songs. By the end of the project on December 19, CERI will have given out over 12,000 pairs of boots and 40,000 pairs of socks to Moldovan children in orphanages and boarding schools. Starting in 1999, this is the fifth trip by the group to Moldova to distribute winter boots and clothes
