U.S. donates vehicles and equipment to the Moldovan Interior Ministry

On the occasion of Police Day, the U.S. Government donated five vehicles – two Chevrolet sedans to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Department of Operative Services and three Ford universals to the Center for Combating Trafficking in Persons. Ambassador Chaudhry, who handed the car keys to Minister of Interior Papuc, said: "I remain proud of the cooperation between the United States and Moldova in the field of law enforcement.  Our combined efforts target criminal activities that threaten both our countries."

In addition to these vehicles, the U.S. donated bullet proof vests, 50 laptops and forensic equipment.  The donation is intended to assist the Government of Moldova in its fight against domestic and transnational organized criminal activity and trafficking in persons.  Besides that, the U.S. Government is preparing to make a significant donation of Explosive Ordinance Disposal equipment to the Moldovan Bomb Squad in early 2009.
