A difficult unprecedented situation occurred at Antena C. In view of the created conditions, we would like to ask for a meeting with the Embassy diplomatic corps in order to brief you on the current situation and try to find solutions for it.

We would like to inform you that on February 5, 2007, 25 journalists of Antena-C were trold by Mr. V. Sitnic, Director of the newly created “Antena C” Ltd. about the liquidation of the news and programs editorial offices.

According to the new chart, the company will have 53 employees, out of which 2 art positions and 40 advertising agents. Presenters and editors from Antena C were offered the positions of advertising agents, duties of which are absolutely incompatible with the responsibilities of a journalist.

Also, orders of dismissal for the vice directors I.Enache and E.Stratan (the latter being on a sick leave at that moment) and of the accountant N.Namolovan, were issued, these people being replaced by persons from outside the organization.

The new director, without any prior notice to Audiovisual Council, suspended the program schedule according to which the radio station had functioned until February 5. Besides this, journalists were prohibited from entering the studio and the offices next to it, the access to which was guarded  by the police. Starting with February 6 the program is not being prepared by Antena C journalists.
