General Information

To date, over 2500 Moldovans have participated in US Government sponsored exchange programs. The US Embassy Alumni Resource Center (ARC) works to assist these alumni -- former participants of US government sponsored exchange programs -- in sharing the experience and knowledge they gained while in the US with other Moldovans and in implementing things they observed in the United States. In short, the ARC supports alumni in making Moldova a more stable and prosperous democracy.

To accomplish this, the ARC:

  • Provides logistical assistance to alumni in planning events.
  • Offers conference space for alumni-initiated discussions and conferences.
  • Promotes networking among alumni of all US Government sponsored exchange   programs.
  • Provides information on professional development opportunities in the US, Central and Eastern Europe, and the NIS and monthly advertisements about job openings in Moldova.
  • Edits and distributes the quarterly Alumni News, containing information about alumni events and success stories of alumni who are making a difference in Moldova.
  • Organizes professional development seminars and activities.
  • Organizes social events and movie screenings.
  • Offers small grants to alumni.
  • Offers a well-equipped computer room with internet and email access
  • Offers access to copying, scanning, and faxing equipment

The ARC works closely with the Alumni Board, which is elected by the alumni community annually. The Alumni Board includes a President, Secretary, Treasurer, Communications Director, Northern Regional Representative, Central Regional Representative and Southern Regional Representative. Domain Leaders are elected by domain alumni and representing each of the ten fields of alumni professional activity:
·                    Agriculture
·                    Business and Economy
·                    Civil Society
·                    Education and Science
·                    Health Care and Social Assistance
·                    Human Rights and Legal Issues
·                    Mass Media
·                    Public Administration
·                    Students
·                    Culture, Tourism and Environmental Issues

Through the Alumni Board and Domain Leaders, alumni collaborate in planning and implementing activities regionally and in each of these fields. By working together in this way, alumni are able to make a greater impact in their chosen areas and to bring about more improvement in Moldova than if each person were to work alone.

The ARC is open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. On Thursdays the ARC works till 8:00 pm.
