Alumni Small Grants Program: March Round Results
On March 3, 2008 Alumni Small Grants Program Selection Committee composed of Alumni Board Members and PAS Staff met to discuss the sumbitted proposals. The following 8 project proposals were selected for full or partial funding:
- Natalia Alhazov, Fulbright alumna, recieved financial support for participating in the 18th Conference on British and American studies in Timisoara, Romania.
- Ecaterina Cara, CC alumna, for organizing a series of seminars for tax inspectors from Cahul region.
- Ana Chirita, FLEX alumna, for organizing a series of trainings for university students on working with mass media.
- Vera Osoianu, Contemporary Issues alumna, for a one-month library sciesnces study visit to Berlin, Germany upon the invitation of Bibliothek and Information International.
- Octavian Ticu, Fulbright alumnus, for organizing the national conference „Eurasia – un spatiu geopolitc in redefinire” on April 24, 2008.
- Maria Furdui, CC alumna, for organizing a local forum for talented children from Telenesti region.
- Ecaterina Rusnac, FLEX alumna, for organizing a series of business trainings for youth
- Iurie Lobeev, CC alumnus, for building a mini-lift that would facilitate the acces of people in wheelchairs to a social canteen.
Small Alumni Grants Program Announcement
The US Embassy Alumni Resource Center is pleased to announce the next round of ARC Alumni Grants Program. The ARC Alumni Grants Program is designed to support alumni in their efforts to achieve the overall goal of the alumni community, which is “Helping Moldova Become a More Stable, Prosperous Democracy,” and will provide active alumni the opportunity to share the experience they gained through their exchange program with both the alumni community and the general Moldovan public and to implement things they saw in the US.
The purposes for this program are to further the professional development of alumni and their colleagues; to implement and disseminate the concepts learned during exchange programs, to provide alumni with networking opportunities; etc.
Funds may be used for the following:
- To initiate a public or community service program;
- To organize training programs or conferences for professional colleagues and other alumni;
- To organize and plan networking events;
- To develop and publish curricula, textbooks, or related reference or educational materials;
- To publish public information pamphlets or brochures on topics that further USG assistance goals;
- To conduct other projects that support democratic and economic reform initiatives.
- For travel grants within Europe and Eurasia, including for regional alumni events;
- To provide cost-sharing for international travel to U.S.;
Food and refreshments costs for conferences and networking events are allowable up to 10% of the total project costs. Cost sharing is strongly encouraged. Materials published under these grants must be reviewed and approved by the Embassy prior to dissemination. The maximum amount available for each ARC Alumni Grant is $500
