CIVIL RECORDS

Birth and Death Certificates

Should an American citizen be born in Moldova, we will issue a Consular Report of Birth Abroad, (a consular birth certificate) and a passport.

How to obtain a birth certificate: http://travel.state.gov/passport/services/cert/cert_2257.html

If an American citizen dies, we can provide you with the information on local burial or shipment of the remains to the U.S. We will also issue a Report of Death of an American Citizen Abroad (a consular death certificate). The death certificate issued by the consular section is often required by organizations in the United States as the official proof of death.

Notarial Services

The Embassy performs notarial services for American citizens on certain types of documents. We also provide certain types of notarial services for citizens of other countries who need to use the document in the United States. Please specify the exact document you need notarized when making an appointment for notarial services.
