Deputy Chief of Mission Marcus Micheli
Marcus Micheli is a career Foreign Service Officer who joined the Department of State in 1991. He began his current assignment as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau, Moldova in August 2009. From 2007-2009, he was Political/Economic Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Podgorica, Montenegro. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Director of the Office for Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus at the Department of State from 2004-2006, and as Deputy Director of the Political/Internal Unit at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow from 2002-2004.
Mr. Micheli also worked from 2001-2002 in the Office of the Coordinator for U.S. Assistance to the Former Soviet Union, and from 2000-2001 was a political advisor to the Office of the High Representative in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mr. Micheli also has served as a political officer at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine, and as a political officer and vice consul at the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw, Poland. He began his career as a vice consul at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. Mr. Micheli has a BA in history from Reed College and an MA in international affairs from Columbia University.

Mission Marcus Micheli assumed his duties as Chargé d'Affaires on July
25, 2011 until the next U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova is
confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
