U.S. Ambassador Michael Kirby and Moldovan Health Minister Larisa Catrinici attended the opening of the first of 41 independent primary healthcare centers in Moldova.  The center in Saratenii Vechi, Telenesti raion, opened on April 23, 2008.  This new center marks Moldova’s transition from a specialized healthcare to a healthcare system focused on primary care.  The Ambassador used the opportunity to donate office equipment to the renovated care center. more

The U.S. Embassy was once again actively involved in the International Children's Book Fair, organized under the leadership of the Moldovan National Library for Children.  The Embassy helped sponsor this year’s conference, the 17th edition of the event, and participated in the book exhibit with a great selection of children's books. The books displayed are now available to Moldovans at the three American Corners, with reference titles at the Information Resource Center in Chisinau. more

American and Moldovan psychologists share experience in assisting traumatized persons

On April 17, USAID|BIZTAR hosted an International Conference on Business Regulatory and Tax Administration Reform in the Republic of Moldova Chisinau.  BIZTAR is a three-year Moldova. The conference was aimed at strengthening the efforts of public authorities to improve the business climate in Moldova by promoting reform, and was attended by representatives of the public and private sectors, business, and international experts. U.S. Ambassador to Moldova, Michael D. Kirby, and First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economics and Trade of Moldova, Igor Dodon, opened the conference. more

Moldova Agroindbank to accept U.S. visa application fees

April 16, 2008

Starting April 15, select branches of Moldova-Agroindbank will accept payment of the $131 (1375.50 Moldovan lei) U.S. nonimmigrant visa application fee -- the “machine-readable visa” or MRV fee.  This new service is free of additional charge to visa applicants.  Visa applicants will be required to present the receipt for payment of the application fee for all applications after April 28. more
