The Heads of Mission from the following countries or organizations met today with representatives of the journalists of Euro TV and Antenna C, including some of those currently on a hunger strike. We note with concern the difficulties these media outlets have experienced in obtaining licenses. While the technical questions of the licensing of these two stations are being resolved, we urge the Audiovisual Coordinating Council to implement its offer to allow broadcasts of Euro TV and Antenna C to resume immediately. We urge relevant authorities to make all efforts possible to resolve this dispute, which appears to raise questions about the freedom of the media environment in Moldova.
