June 07, 2004 The Embassy of the United States of America requests project proposals for the next round of the Democracy Commission Small Grants Program. Registered non-governmental organizations or independent media organizations are encouraged to submit proposals for projects that will stimulate open and balanced public discussion and debate concerning issues of importance to Moldovans. Possible activities include town-hall meetings, radio and television debates, and issue-oriented discussions. Each event must provide an opportunity for persons representing the full spectrum of perspectives on a particular issue to express their opinions. Collaboration between NGOs and local media outlets is encouraged.
The deadline for submitting a project proposal is June 30, 2004 18:00. Only proposals that address the topic outlined above will be accepted. Proposals on other topics will not be reviewed.
Organizations thinking about submitting a project are invited to attend an informational seminar at which the discussion will focus on the application process, as well as specifics concerning the type of projects we anticipate funding. Information seminars will be held on:
