August 20, 2004 The Embassy of the United States of America, in collaboration with Moldovan Ministry of Education, is pleased to announce the start of the "Leaders in English Teaching" project, which will provide English teacher training to all pre-university teachers in Moldova. The project will be launched on Monday, August 23, at 9:00am, at the Labor Institute (10, Zimbrului Str.) U.S. Embassy and Ministry of Education's representatives will attend the event. Mass media is also invited.
The "Leaders in English Teaching" project will consist of two one-week "training of trainer" seminars. One pre-university teacher from each raion or municipality in Moldova will participate in these seminars, which will focus on the latest techniques and methodologies in English teaching. These teachers will then conduct eight trainings over the course of the 2004-2005 academic year to share the experience with English teaching colleagues in their respective raions or municipalities. At the conclusion of the project, each raion or municipality will have a "local expert" English teacher and every English teacher in Moldova will have had the opportunity to participate in several teacher training seminars.
The "Leaders in English Teaching" project is funded by the U.S. Embassy and implemented by the English Teachers Association (APLE).
