U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the start of recruiting for the 2005-2006 Future Leaders Exchange Program. High school-aged students will be chosen on the basis of merit to attend high school in the United States and live with an American family from August 2005 until July 2006. All students, who are enrolled in 9, 10, 11 forms, born between January 1, 1988 - July 15, 1990, have a good command of English, have a good academic record and posses the personal skills and qualities that will enable them to succeed as exchange student, are eligible to apply.

The program is fully funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered in Moldova by the American Councils for International Education (ACTR/ACCELS).

American Councils will conduct testing, screening, and interviewing of applicants at regional testing centers in Calarasi, Balti, Soroca, Chisinau, Causeni and Leova. In the first stage applicants will register and take a qualifying English language test. Candidates who are successful in passing this exam will advance to the second stage in which they will sit for a more extensive English exam and prepare a written essay. Students who are successful at the second stage will be interviewed and will have to prepare a detailed written application.

The written application, test results and notes made by the interviewers will be send to Washington where they will be reviewed by a commission consisting of international exchange specialists. All selection decisions are made in the United States. Finalists and alternatives will be notified after April 15, 2005.
