Press Release
December 5, 2007
The United States Embassy in Chisinau announces the implementation of an Internet-based, online appointment system for visa interviews. The new system makes applying for U.S. visas more convenient and less time-consuming for applicants. It is available 24 hours a day, and allows applicants to select the date and time most convenient for them to schedule an appointment.
The procedure works as follows: Applicants need to use a computer connected to the Internet to go online at http://evisaforms.state.gov and complete the Electronic Visa Application Form (Form DS-156) for each visa applicant. Once the form is filled out, the application must be printed. On a separate website, applicants then make an appointment through the U.S. Embassy website (http://moldova.usembassy.gov/visa_services.html ), using the barcode identification number on the DS-156 visa application form they already completed.
We urge all travelers to apply for visas well in advance of their planned travel, but understand that sometimes situations arise beyond applicants’ control. Some examples of applications that would qualify for expedited service include medical-emergency cases, unexpected business travel, and students whose studies are about to start. In those cases, the U.S. Embassy can provide expedited appointments for visa interviews.
To request an expedited appointment or schedule a group of 10 persons or more, applicants should send, via email, written requests describing their situations to Chisinau-CA@state.gov with the words “Expedited Appointment” in the subject line. We will make every effort to provide visa interview appointments for those with compelling circumstances.
