Make Your Appointment

To book your appointment, you will need the barcode number from your DS-156 (EVAF) and a printer.   Please click on the link below, and follow the instructions provided to select a date and time from the menu provided for your visa interview.  You can access the appointment website at any time, and can re-enter later should you need to change or cancel your scheduled appointment.

Make/Change an Appointment

You must bring a copy of your Appointment Confirmation webpage to your interview in order to enter the building. The system will not send a confirmation email. (Print the webpage using the print button on your browser.)

Each visa applicant must have his/her own appointment. If you are applying as a family, each applying member must have an appointment.

Applications for children under the age of 14 may be submitted along with their parent's application without an appointment.

IMPORTANT: To prevent multiple bookings by the same person, the Embassy reserves the right to cancel any appointments which do not appear to be valid reservations. Please spell your name correctly. Multiple name spellings with the same or similar passport numbers may be subject to cancellation.

Normal nonimmigrant Visa Interview Days are every Monday through Thursday, 8:30AM - 11:30AM.  Passports and visas are returned usually the following day by 4:00PM.

On the day of your visa interview:

Each applicant must present the following at the time of their visa application and interview:

  • a fully completed, signed DS-156 electronic version application form for each applicant (including children); (Instructions in Romanian and Russian)
  • a completed DS-157 if the applicant is a male between 16 and 45 years of age;
  • a contact information and work history for nonimmigrant visa applicant form DS-158 (if applicable, i.e. for student and exchange visitor visas)
  • a passport valid for at least six months after the date on which the applicant plans to depart the United States (note: If more than one person is included in the passport, each person desiring a visa must make a separate application);
  • $131 application fee for each person (including children), which is non-refundable.
  • One 5 cm x 5 cm passport-type photograph.

Because of security requirements, cell phones and other electronic devices (computers, personal digital assistants, iPods, etc.) are not permitted inside the consular waiting room.  Please do not bring these devices with you to your visa appointment.  The U.S. Embassy will not take responsibility for the temporary storage of cell phones or other personal items.

Note for J-1 trainee and internship visa applicants:

If your DS-2019 form was issued by your sponsoring organization on or after July 19, 2007, you must also submit a DS-7002 "Training/Internship Placement Plan" form with your visa application.

We prefer that you submit inquiries via email at Chisinau-CA@state.gov.  Consular staff are available to answer telephone inquiries on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:00PM to 5:00PM Moldova time, or Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00AM to 12:00 PM Moldova time.  

IMPORTANT: For petition-based work visa applicants (H-1B, H-2B, H-2A, L-1, O1, P-1, P-2, P-3), when making visa interview appointments, please send us an e-mail at Chisinau-CA@state.gov with your name and approved petition number. For example: Popescu, Ion; Petition No: EAC-08-123-45678.
